I heard that there is a beta for IE 8 out right now. I was wondering about
vista compatibility and the new features.

I haven't tried it in Vista but I briefly loaded it in XP expecting lots of
new things. It 'fell over' after about 15 minutes so I immediately removed
it.

I wouldn't recommend it for the average user at present. Yes I'm using it
and Yes it has compatibility issues - hotmail being one favourite. Of course
you can use the 'emulate IE 7.0' button (which will not be there when IE 8.0
is finally released, it is there for beta testers) but who wants to keep
closing down IE every time you want to change from 'emulates' mode to IE 8.0
If, like me, you are a beta tester these 'niggles' are par for the course,
but damned inconvenient for the normal user.

Running here on Vista, has a few minor glitches. Has a IE7 emulation
mode which seems to work fairly well.

Firefox 3 Beta 4 is out as well. Which seems to be pretty damn good.

Hi Scott,

So far I've heard that we should wait before using IE8. I guess there's
been some trouble with the beta. Recommending sticking with IE7 for the
time being.

Hi
As this page says, "This beta is aimed at web developers and designers to
help them take advantage of new features in Internet Explorer 8 that will
enhance their websites".
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro.../getitnow.mspx
Otherwise at this stage do not expect as an End-User to judge anything
unless you have a real Interest in beta testing.
