Default YOU NEED PERMISSION TO PERFORM THIS ACTION

I have been reading the other posts in regards to this problem and they are
way over my head, I just need to get rid of this problem - some things
delete just fine, others won't delete and won't move. This is just my home
computer, I'm not networked with any other computer. I put the items on the
computer I should be able to remove them!!!! Could someone please provide
me with a simple easy to understand solution? Thank you......

czly,

Check out this link. Although it says XP it also applies to Vista.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421

Here is another link about how to add "Take Ownership" to your
right-click context menu.

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...menu-in-vista/

I hope this helps you.

Czly, don't get intimidated by the long list of procedures. It's not
as diffcult as you perceived. Shawn aka Brink is the best source to go
to. He has excellent tutorials and they work. Any time you have
problem following his tutorials, just post the problem and he'll come
back to you. He won't left you hanging dry. He also has a tutorial
about enabling the real built-in administrator to do the job for you.
Just go to the vista tutorials and you'll find his work. Good luck.

I'll second the motion for the recommendation for Shawn (Brink). He's
the resident authority on Vista. If you need additional help just ask.

I have had the same problem; every now and then a random file or folder
will refuse to delete, move or rename, and I usually have to reboot my
computer and everything's fine. I did try the site where you dl the
"take ownership" file, but it doesn't seem to work! Any other
suggestions on how to either stop or avoid this??

Hello JWG8401,

If you have the 32 bit Vista, you can try the free program "Unlocker"
to see if it can help you delete a stubborn file.

'UNLOCKER 1.8.7 BY CEDRICK 'NITCH' COLLOMB'

Hope this helps,
Shawn
