Default Vista using 32in tv as monitor

But if I want to switch between the tv and monitor vista turns on the
monitor . How do I stop that plz?

I don't understand the question. If you want to switch between them, then
the monitor would obviously need to be on.

WEll duh but the screen goes back to sleep when i switch to the computer

Sounds like the OP is referring to using the tv as an **additional**
monitor.
Just a guess.

Some integrated graphics chipsets do not support dual monitors. Check your
computer specifications. If this is the case you can use either the internal
or external monitor (if laptop), or one video output connection at a time
(e.g.. VGA or S-Video) but not both at the same time.
