Default How do you NOT share files?

Microsoft OneCare requires Vista's File and Printer sharing to be turned
on to allow for automatic backup of computers in my circle.
Unfortunately, if I turn File and Printer sharing on, my computer is
laid bare to everyone on my network.

XP would allow you to designate folders like "My Documents" as private,
but Vista doesn't seem to have this function.

Is there a way to enable File and Printer sharing but keep some
directories private?

Thanks!

Hey Gspam!

I use Live OneCare on a two PC circle. My PC is the host and only has
printer sharing enabled. On my USB external attached to my PC, I have a
directory that is shared with the other PC, so they can manually put
their ZIP or whatever files in their folder for backup. None of my other
folders, either on my USB external or main PC are "sharable", they are
secure from anyone else in my circle. I don't use the Live OneCare as a
backup utility. I use a third party program which I find to be superior
and has password, encrypted protected images of my hard drive.

I hope this helps.

.Joe,

Thank you for the quick response. I have Vista Home Premium, and it
doesn't allow you to turn on only Printer Sharing, just "File and
Printer Sharing" What version of Vista are you running?

Thanks!

In OneCare live advanced settings, there's a check box for "printer
sharing", nothing about folders or files. And I'm using Home Premium
SP1 32 bit.
