Default Vista DVD Drive Issue

DVD drive was working fine until I loaded Norton AV. Then, whenever I put a
disk in the drive I get a BSOD. Thought I could fix the problem by replacing
Norton with BitDefender but I have the same problem. After uninstalling
Norton, but before installing BitDefender, the drive was fine. I've seen the
upper/lower filter posts and I don't have these entries in my registry. I've
talked to Dell - they just want me to re-install Windows (I don't buy it). I
talked to BitDefender - they blame Windows too. On the BSOD I get a
fltmgr.sys error

Did you use the Norton Removal Tool?

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool.

I get the same thing. I have no DVD drive and get the FLTMGR.SYS error every
and any time I put in a disk. I Run vista home premium and use avast and
mcaffe security center.

Please some one offer me a real solution. Thus far I see nothing usefull.

Thanks,
