Internet Explorer & Microsoft Registr Server issue

What updates were installed when you "ran the last update" (e.g., Vista SP1; driver update) and when did you run it? What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? Internet Explorer & Microsoft Registr Server issue
KB946041 was the last udate I installed and it was on the 18th. I unistalled
and reinstalled it so the original installation took place around the 17th. I run Norton 10.2. I completly uninstalled it and still had the same problem. There are no other anit-spyware applications except Defender and no firewall that I am aware of on the computer. Internet Explorer & Microsoft Registr Server issue
KB946041 was the last udate I installed and it was on the 18th.
But was that the only update you installed from Windows Update on the 18th? I run Norton 10.2. I completly uninstalled it and still had the same problem Norton applications are notorious for not uninstalling cleanly. If "Norton 10.2" is Norton Internet Security (NIS), give this a whirl: 1. Assuming NIS is currently installed, your subscription is current, and you may want to reinstall it at some point, make certain you have a copy of your Product Key then uninstall all Norton software (including LiveUpdate) via Add/Remove Programs. 2. Enable the Windows Firewall. NB: You're "working without a net" now: Don't to ANYTHING else online (e.g., browsing; reading email; chatting) except #4 below until your anti-virus application has been installed and fully updated! 3. Run the appropriate version of this removal tool: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039 4. Reboot, and immediately: (a) uninstall KB946401 if currently installed; and then (b) install Avira AntiVir* (free), or the 30-day free trial version of, e.g., NOD32**, KAV7*** 5. Reboot and reinstall KB946401. 6. Manually update your new anti-virus application then run a full system scan. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If the behavior persists despite the above, I'd recommend that you... Start a free Windows Update support incident request: https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527 Support for Windows Update: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB946401). ======================================= * http://www.free-av.com/ ** www.eset.com/download/index.php *** http://usa.kaspersky.com/trials/home.../anti-virus-7/ [Don't forget to subscribe to your new AV appplication or uninstall it and then reinstall the Norton application before the free-trial period expires (if applicable)! Should you decide to reinstall the Norton application, I recommend not installing any Norton Add-ons for a while.] -- ~PA Bear Anne wrote: KB946041 was the last udate I installed and it was on the 18th.
