Sorry John what instructions?.......... I get exactly what you said... I followed it... I simply am unable to go furthur than the screen above...... how can I fix a drive my system is NOT seeing???? and there are NO drivers available to run it?? according to Vista Disc.... Hmmm..... Asus nor Via have answers to solve my issue either..... so how can following any instructions fix something that cannot be fixed?? I have two choices... Do a clean install of Vista..... on Sata drive or Buy another working IDE...... the second choice is cheaper , easier and quicker.... Sorry if you feel I wasnt following instructions, but if you read my full posts you will see I did everything suggested... but of no use if system refuses to find drivers to RUN SATA which has the operating system on....which needs the repair..... ASUS and VIA forums are full of this problem with "OLDER" motherboards..... -- GrimReaperUK |

Grim,
I know this is months after the fact, but I think the problem you were experiencing was from how your BIOS was set. A couple things to consider are Was the SATA ports on MB specifically for raid use only? Some ASUS boards had SATA ports, but they were designed only for RAID use. Maybe yours was one of these. If Not, then you must direct your BIOS to recognize the SATA drives over the IDE; and this is usually on ASUS boards in a different spot then changing Boot Priority. You change boot Priority after you point the BIOS to the correct drive interface you want to use. Some ASUS boards you choose IDE or SATA, or if you have to choose to use the RAID controller to use the SATA drives then you access your hard drive control via the RAID controller not the BIOS. Maybe you overlooked this part when you were trying to use the drive and putting raid controllers drivers in, but you never got into the raid controller console to change settings. If your MB did not require the use of RAID controller to use your SATA drives, and you didn't have a RAID set up, then there was no need to go that direction. instead you again needed to adjust your IDE/SATA settings under your BIOS. In the Future, I wouldn't expect too much from the End User Support via ASUS. They aren't known for being very helpful to end users. ASUS has Great Product, I'll buy ASUS every time, but if i want help, I'll go someplace else first. "GrimReaperUK" wrote: Sorry John what instructions?.......... I get exactly what you said...
