My Vista build pauses at random times. Generally the mouse can be moved and
various windows can be minimized/maximized but that is about it. I have tested the hard drives with chkdsk. I have tested the memory. I have disabled all startups in msconfig. All drivers are up to date. System is running Vista SP1. Any other suggestions? |

Is this a new problem?
What firewall, anti-virus application or security suite is installed? The problem has been occurring for quite some time; even perhaps since
computer purchase about a year ago but not sure. The device drivers are from manufacturer's website and then I used a PC Pitstop utility to verify all driver's were up to date. I am using AVG Antivirus but I believe that I have tested with AVG disabled through MSconfig. Firewall is the Windows Firewall. "Bob" wrote: Is this a new problem? sfc /scannow completed the verification phase and then presented with the
following error: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Detail are included in the CBS Log windir\logs\CBS\CBS.log" I have searched the net and seem to be coming up with a bug being reported in sfc where this issue is cropping up, even with Vista SP1. Are my readings correct? Any further suggestions on the pausing and/or the SFC? I have noticed that the pausing seems to most often (but not always) occur when a tvtuner is running. I have tried two different tv tuners from two different manufactorers but that does not really seem to be the problem. My gosh, I have upgraded this dual core processort 2.3 GHz machine to 2 GB of memory. That should be enough to run a tv tuner. The tv tuners and Vista run fine in my 1 GB memory machine. Could the issue be with the onboard video (NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430)? The computer manufactorer tells me that the onboard video could not be the problem. If it is the issue how could I test it short of purchasing a video card? Rick "Bob" wrote: Run sfc /scannow. "RICK" wrote in message ... I started off with 512kb but have since upgraded to 2GB.
