Default return to factory state

I don't have to explain why, because I'm positive you have heard ( or
should be "seen" ) enough to understand my sentiment. Will some one
please show me how, if possible , to "reborn" my pc to factory condition
?
My laptop is Dell inspiron 1420, home premium 32 bit. It's about 5
months old. It came with :-
1.) OS reinstallment DVD
2.) Dell Drivers and Utilities disk
3.) Microsoft Works 8.5 disk
4.) Trend Micro Internet Security ( but I have changed to McAfee since)
It's only 5 months ago that I learned how to use computer by reading
and asking questions. So please be step-by-step in showing me how to.
Thank you.

The documentation that came with your Dell should have clear instructions on
how to do this.

I believe Dell's have a restore partition that can be used at bootup, some F
key, maybe F10? to restore the system back to factory condition. Make sure
you backup all data first.

I also have a dell, only 1.5 months or so old, and it has a recovery
partition in addition to the DVD's mentioned. My recovery partition is
drive D and has an executable file on there to start the recovery
process. And the previous posters advice is right on the mark. If you
intend to use the recovery capability of a Dell, backup your important
files, since everything on your C drive will get nuked in the process.
I would attempt system restores and repairs before I use the recovery
process.

What kind of problem are you having that makes you want to restore
back to a factory image?

Nothing major as far as problems are concerned. Just slow coming back
to live after logging on, slow connecting to sites( any site ), icons
inexplicably go awol leaving only the names behind, and I believe a lot
of junks had been added to my laptop before I received it, some of which
couldn't be "factory installed". Why didn't I delete them? Because I'm
not sure which is which. I had tried various methods from the mudane
defraig to enable/disable program features. Nothing seemed to work, at
least noticeably.

When you're dealing with an OEM restoration procedure, this is not
part of Windows and is not necessarily done in any standard way. The
instructions for doing this can vary, depending on your computer's
manufacturer, and sometimes even with the model of your computer.

That's why it's best to follow your manufacturer's instructions (check
your manual, on their web site, or call them) rather than ask here.
