Default Windows Mail - Can receive but can not send email

I've spent the last couple hours searching through the forum for help
and did not find anything that worked. Perhaps someone can help point
me in the right direction...

Thanks for your help!!!

Here's my error when sending email:

An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'Test Email...', Account:
'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '421 Cannot connect to SMTP server 76.96.62.117
(76.96.62.117:25), connect error 10060', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67

I've double checked Comcast's email settings, the reboot didn't work
either.

.Joe

I had already been through the tutorial several times, but went through
one more time. Decided to change over to Windows Live Mail. Just
finished the install. Same error... I assume I've now eliminated a
corrupted Windows Mail program as the answer. Sure like the look of
Live...

Figured it out. The stmp port changed from the default (25) to a new
number-587. Changed the port number and it works...

Easy. I feel pretty stupid!

Joe, the tutorial says nothing about this particular problem, so please
quit offering it as a cure-all.

Default Windows Mail - Can receive but can not send email

Hi Somethin'fishy,

i'm having a similar problem, receive all mails but when i reply to them
nobody is receiving them. I feel helpless and extremely frustrated by this
incompetence.

Please could you tell me how you got to your "STMP" port to change the
default setting? I gotta try something !!!!

Many thanks,
