Default SP1 installed - network connections broken

I just installed SP1, uneventful and everything seemed fine.

But when finished my network services totally fail. I try to open network
connections and instead explorer totally locks up and unable to to anything.
Cannot connect to internet. Says "server communication failed" when I mouse
over the network icon on toolbar. Was forced to restore to pre-SP1 and
everything is fine again.

This is just outright strange. Any suggestions?

Same thing happend to me. I just downgraded to XP. I thought I was a
vista lover but when an OS kills my network connection it got to go! I'm
100% XP until M$ gets off their cans and fixes or replaces vista.

Hi
You did not indicate what network means in your case.
Take a look at the Firewall make sure that it does not block the connection.

my windows firewall is off. When I mouse over the icon at bottom, it says
Connection Status: unknown - No such interface supported.

What is WEIRD is that I AM connected to the internet. This reboot my
services did not fail. I am on vent and typing this right now while the
problem occurs.

I had a bigfoot NIC that I uninstalled and disabled - so I am using my
nvidia network interface controller, which is my default and what I have been
using for awhile now.

I'd also like to point out that my headset mic no longer works! I
disconnect, reconnected - it sees it.. the headphones work but when I try to
setup my microphone it doesnt register any incoming voice....
