Default Vista Windows Fax and Scan fatal Error

If I try to fax using Windows fax and scan in Vista I get a fatal
error when it tries to send the fax but RKS fax sends fine with no
errors, my modem is a motorola SM56 with latest driver. I tried
uninstalling WFS and reinstalling with no success. Thanks.

Did you verify that you modem is on the VHCL? What messages did you receive
when you configured your Fax Account?
How many other fax programs do you have installed? WFS should be the only
one installed if it's going to work.

Motorola is on the VHCL.

What messages did you receive when you configured your Fax Account?
Account created ok or something to that effect.

How many other fax programs do you have installed?
None

Then what's RKS? How does your modem appear in the Fax Account?
It does not matter if the manufacturer is on the VHCL. The specific modem
must be as well. Your error message suggests an incompatible modem or a
conflicting TAPI application. Beyond that, you'll need to contact PSS for
help. You'll qualify if your specific modem is on the VHCL.

Modem is Motorola SM56 Data fax modem and it qualifies.
RKS Fax was another fax app I tried and removed.
PSS?

Product Service and Support. Even installing another TAPI based fax
application can prevent WFS from working. Uninstalling it won't necessarily
remove the settings it wrote to the modem.

Default Vista Windows Fax and Scan fatal Error

I'm having a very similar problem sending faxes using Vista 32-bit Ultimate
Windows Fax and Scan. I have a Zoom 4300A Bluetooth Modem which is Class 1
fax and have checked the Zoom Technologies Web site where it says it is Vista
compatible. (I was unable to find on the Microsoft VHCL)

The modem is detected by Vista and it sees it as a fax and I can dial out
etc. When I try to send a fax it dials the number, tries to connect, the
answering fax machine starts handshaking, and then I get "An unknown error
has occurred". I purchased the Zoom modem after the same error happened
which my U.S. Robotics Win INT modem. I was previously able to send faxes
with no problems on Windows XP.

I have wiped my machine and tried a fresh install of Vista, ensuring all
drivers are the most up to date but still no joy...Any suggestions?
