We have quite a few computers running Windows XP and Vista. We recently
purchased a NAS device and have shared folders using SMB. We are sharing the folders created in the NAS to security groups (such as qa, support, domainadmins, etc). Users running Windows XP are able to access the shares according to the security groups they belong to just fine. Users running Windows Vista can't access any of the shares (even though they are part of security groups that should allow them to access the shares). I have made changes to the local security policy to allow LM authentication level in Vista to Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 if negotiated but that made no difference. Now, if I grant the particular Vista user the same level of access in the NAS that the security group has, that user is able to access the NAS just like an XP user does... Why does the group level access work in XP but not in Vista wen trying to reach the NAS? Does anyone know how this can be fixed in Windows Vista? I have contacted the NAS manufacturer to inquire about a fix on their side as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |
