Can't delete item from destktop
Using vista 64 and I have a folder that contains another folder with a small
file inside. Vista will NOT allow me to delete the folder from the desktop. I have tried everything that I know to do: 1. I tried to delete from the command prompt. 2. I tried renaming to folder. 3. Downloaded a "unlocker" program as suggested in other posts, doesn't work on 64 bit. This is driving me nuts....Any suggests would be greatly appricated. |

Hi, the link below will show you how to " take ownership " of the folder. After that you can delete the folder. Please reply whetherit works or not. Thank you. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67...rship-file.htm -- davidjchuang |

Work backwards, starting with deleting the file within the sub-folder.

Thanks...but I already tried that. It gives me the same error message for
each file and folder. "Bob" wrote: Work backwards, starting with deleting the file within the sub-folder. ------- *Report back, please* "Jarjar" wrote in message ... I hadn't tried to take ownership of the specific file just the folder, so I
tried that through the command prompt like I did the folder. It gives me the ERROR: Invalid argument/option ..... This particular file in the folder must be the problem...... Thanks "davidjchuang" wrote: Jarjar;677172 Wrote: I was able to take ownership but this did not allow me to delete the file. I might have found the key to your problem. In one of your replies, you mentioned that there was an error message indicating system could not find the file, and asking you to verify it's location. I know if you right-click on the file and click Open File Location, it will lead you there. Then what ? I's beyond my limited know-how. You can post that particular question to the forum. Let me know afterwards please, as I'd like to know too -- for future reference. -- t-4-2 |
