I recently purchased a new PC with 64 bit vista installed. When I first got
started connecting my entertainment center, everything seemed fine with my network. However, the automatic update seems to have overwritten my network configuration from the original. The PC automatically loses its connection about every 1 minute, then establishes a new connection for about 1 minute. After resetting the modem and router, the problem went away; that is until I had to reboot my machine. So, now I have to reboot my modem, router and PC at roughly the same time to get an internet connection that doesn't constantly drop and reconnect. Any ideas on how to keep the connection good between boots, so I don't have to reset the modem and router? I'm not a network guy, any help is most appreciated. |

Have you checked any new driver for NIC and firmware for the router
available? -- Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com "Mark" wrote in message ... What firewall, anti-virus application or security suite is installed? There
are some that cause problems which do not appear immediately. ------- *Report back, please* "Mark" wrote in message ... I recently purchased a new PC with 64 bit vista installed. I have vista ultimate, and, only use the firewall that is provided by
mircrosoft. I will likely use OnceCare, as I have two other PC's to install this on currently. However, I have not had time yet to install security. If I don't get my internet up and running, there is no need for security. Thanks, MT "Bob" wrote: What firewall, anti-virus application or security suite is installed? the driver was updated via the automatic updates. I have a linksys router,
and, I'll check the updates tonight for it. However, my other 3 pc's work just fine. Just not the 64 bit vista ultimate machine. "Robert L. Search on Google: 60 seconds lag wireless vista
Then you can discover how many vista users are having this frustrating problem. MS promised to deal with it in SP1, but the problem still exists after installing SP1. Maybe it will help to install the driver from XP 64 bit. Maybe Vista Anti Lag (freeware) does the job. No promises however... "Mark" schreef in bericht ... Make certain you do not have a pre-installed security suite.

Never update drivers via the generic automatic updates. They are often
outdated. Update drivers on your OEM's or device manufacturer's website. ------- *Report back, please* "Mark" wrote in message ... the driver was updated via the automatic updates. FYI
64bit drivers didnt fix the problem on my d-link g510 pci card. May work with other cards though. I also understand that Vista anti-lag doesnt seem to work on 64bit OS. Some people have reported success installing 64bit XP drivers and running VAL but this wasnt an option for me unfortunately..still waiting for a MS fix...
