I have a download version with serial# key of Acronis Tru Image Home 9.0 that
I can't get installed on either my RC1 Desktop (64bit) or 32 bit laptop. The
error upon installation is the windows installer was interrupted before
installation was complete. Antivirus software has been disabled, compatibilty
mode failed, extracting from the download onto desktop and using the command
prompt failed. Does anyone have any suggestions, because I can't get the
functionality of the RC1 back up to meet my needs, like creating a mirro
image to an external HD.
What are other useres using to Backup there files automatocally onto a
external HD???

I use and like Acronis , but it won't install in Vista.

You have two options:

1. Make an Acronis rescue disk and make a disk image while booted from
that, onto an external. Slower than when Acronis is installed, but it
works for a Vista, and can be restored.

2. Use Vista's built-in "backup whole computer" option, which you can do
to an external. Then you boot from the Vista install DVD to restore.

I have used both methods to make an image/backup of a Vista drive to an
external, and then restore it to a different internal....everything worked!

Personally I am using option 2 with Vista, and for me I don't think
Acronis offers anything in Vista.

Acronis 9.0 Home installs and runs well in Vista RC1.

Yes also Acronis Workstation 9.1 works well (with disabled UAC)

Thanks for the info, I will defnitely follow your suggestions. I have tried
to install Acronis every which way I know how, and it WON'T INSTALL on either
64bit or 32bit Desktop or laptop. I'm not sure how others have gotten it to
work--that is a mystery to me. . . Then again, it could be a conspiracy, like
politicians pretending to be non-partisan. . .

I have just tried installing Acronis Home again, with UAC turned off,
and it worked. Still with UAC, off I made an image successfully (would
run with UAC back on)...BUT...

Acronis would not mount the image. So I decided I would use the Vista

the uninstall. Told me to put the install DVD in and restart etc. This
didn't work even pressing F8, F12 etc. Finally got it going again by
using the option to restart using last known good config,labelled
"advanced". Definitely scared off installing Acronis for now. May use it
booted from the Acronis rescue disk.

I have Acronis 9.0 installed on my Vista RC1 load and it works just fine.
What I had to do was to either turn off UAC (which I did at first), or
configure it to run in the XP SP2 compatibility mode with administrator
privledges. Then it works just fine.

I have made a backup image using True Image version 9.0, performed the
backup verification, and also mounted the image without any problems.

I suspect that you would have to right click on the installation setup file
(can't use autorun capabilities) and run the setup file as administrator to
install the program successfully or turn off UAC while installing it.

Thanks--ok, I will try your suggestions, then, when I get home. It could be
as well that my home system is RC1 64 bit, but I do have a 32 bit laptop I

I am sorry to say, that after trying every suggestion above, and some other
freaky workarounds, I could not get Acronis True Image 9.0 Home to install on
my 64BIT RC1 Desktop Dell E510 (new, dual core). It comes O' so close, even
launching the startup desltop icon, before pulling back on its own
installation stating that "something has interrupted the installation" and to
restart, which just goes in a loop.
Oh well, but i will try it on my 32BIT RC1 laptoip next, and see if it
installs there.
