Mouse not recognized after reboot following the 04/08 patch
Restorng Registry and all files that were backed up did not fix it. Prior to
winxp I had to reformat my pc every 6 months to keep it running smooth, with winxp that was reduced to less then once a year, with use of a registry cleaner, the need to format was gone and windows could finally run wthout destroying itself. Granted on a brand new pc It is probably not needed so much, but installing windows creates hundreds of errors on itself before you even install a program. The registry is windows biggest failure and the cause of of many many problems. anyways, I need my pc over the weekend, if i can't find a fix by then I will just format and reinstall next week. It's only about 5 weeks old, not that much to lose except the 2 days to download patches and updates from all my programs :/ "Bob" wrote: You're welcome. Mouse not recognized after reboot following the 04/08 patch
This is in response to *Mouse not recognized after reboot following the 04/08 patch.* Ok the only way to get the mouse back is to uninstall the update for window vista that is the only one that causes the problem. It took half a day but that is the one once you restore and then hide that one you are fine. That one you can not unistall by clicking you must restore to before the update. Hope this helps all of you. Let me know if there is a way to keep the update and the mouse. So I can unhide the update. The update that causes my problem is (KB938371) Update window vista. -- goose88 Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

Mouse not recognized after reboot following the 04/08 patch
I got my mouse back, and it works. I just get this annoying new hardware
found and driver instal has failed every time i reboot :/ My problem is definetly in the HID section and the driver for it. I have found the drivers in my c:\windows\system32\drivers folder. mouhid.sys amd mouclass.sys. I am using the intellipoint 6.2 driver for 64bit under "mice and pointing devices" in device manager. However when i try to load the drivers for the hid device section, vista64 doesn't allow me to pick a file for a driver and pointing to the folder results in the same driver not found. Also if i uninstall the device, and try to manually install hardware, mouse is not even an option, nor is it listed under microsoft. In other posts on other threads they suggest installing the mouse as hid compliant mouse, (which is the way it is on my winxp machine) but this is not a option for me that I have been able to find, but I think it would work if I could. But mice are not listed in the hardware wizard for me. Not sure why they want you to have your mouse loaded under 2 different devices but it's the same way on my winxp machine, under mice, and repeated under HID. Probably so they can get it to load before the OS while still using usb. I hate that my motherboard does not have a ps2 mouse port . Mouse not recognized after reboot following the 04/08 patch
ok, I made it thru 2 reboots so far and no problems:
System- vista64 home premium, microsoft wheelmouse optical (USB) Problem- after the patch on 04/08/2008 when I reboot I got new hardware found message and driver instal failed. If I chose the ignore problem option, the mouse quit working altogether. How I fixed it. - In device manager under mouse and other pointing devices it shows microsoft wheelmouse optical (usb) and the I installed the 64bit intellipoint 6.2 drivers. Under Human interface devices in device manager it listed either microsoft wheelmouse optical or microsoft 3-button mouse with intelliEye(TM) Neither device manager entries ever showed a conflict (yellow exclamation point). Under the Human interface devices/3-button mouse I chose Properties, then update driver, and then selected Browse my computer for driver Software,Then selected Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. Chose Microsoft in the left pane, and chose HID-compliant consumer control device in the right pane. Then Clicked Next. I got the message that installing this device is not recommended because windows cannot verify if it is compatible with your hardware Etc. Do you want to install this device anyways? I chose yes. After a moment it installed the driver by itself, then got the message Windows has finished installing the driver software for this device. I closed out and rebooted twice to test it and no more, new hardware found message on reboot. I figured out this fix after assessing info from other threads, looking at my mouse install on winxp machine under HID and mouse pointers. And process of elimination with help from everyone. I don't know if it fixed it or just confused vista enough not to error LoL! After the fix the mouse shows the following drivers listed: mouclass.sys mouhid.sys point64k.sys And the HID-compliant consumer control device showed the folowing driver: hidusb.sys This all happened after the patch, and since so many people having usb related problems at this same time I am assuming the patch was the culprit. But in case it was caused by something else, some of the other programs that I run more then I should a Windows Live One Care CCleaner Auslogics Speed Boost (deleted now) On: , 8gig ram@1066,asus Maximus Formula motherboard, 1GB 8800gts video, 4GB flash (readyboost), Vista64 Home Premium Can't think of any other relevant info, I will monitor this thread for a few more days if you have any questions. Thank You Bob and others for your attention to my problem, I certainly couldn't of fixed it without this board. Good Luck All. "SkyKnites" wrote: I got my mouse back, and it works. Mouse not recognized after reboot following the 04/08 patch
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem as described here, i.e. no cordless mouse and keyboard (Via usb). I run Vista x64 Ultimate which is in a dual boot with XP x64, this means (discovered it today) that my restore points gets whiped (see ms article 926185). Basically, I don't know how to unistall the update causing the problem, (KB938371). Any hints? Mouse not recognized after reboot following the 04/08 patch

It in fact, it cannot even recognize the device it is trying to install drivers for which is why i think it fails the driver update on reboot. I found out the hard way by telling vista to ignore the problem and it promptly disconnected the mouse altogether. I tried restoring to a point before the patch but it did not fix the problem. One of the patches warned that it cannot be removed , so my guess is that is what is causing the problem. Since this was just yesterday I kinda hope they will fix this patch, but I know I cannot rely on this wait and see tactic. Any ideas would be appreciated Thank You Try a different USB port for now |

My system has a Bluetooth mouse with a built in Bluetooth card. The mouse has failed and can no longer be recognized or paired. The USP ports have no problems which leads me to believer the mouse drivers (USB and Bluetooth) are disabled. It is a pain not having access to a mouse. I tried a System Restore with no results. If anyone hears of a patch repair tell us. |
