I was quite surprised to find that system startup is significantly
slower with RC1 relative to Beta 2. I am talking about 45 seconds longer from power on to desktop. I expected to see a speed improvement with RC1, not a deterioration. After reviewing the System Event Log it seems the primary culprit is the "Application Experience Lookup Service" which apparently is taking 45 to 47 seconds to load in RC1 versus only 7 seconds in Beta 2. Can this service be disabled? Is this a known issue that will be fixed? Other thoughts, suggestions, experience? |

I have the opposite as my computer boots a lot faster with RC1 than it ever
did with beta2. I have just found this on the KB: Quote: The Application Experience Lookup Service must be running for the software updates be applied. You cannot customize the Application Experience Lookup Service. This service is used by the operating system internally. This service does not use any Active Directory, network, or Internet resources. The functionality of the Application Experience Lookup Service can be disabled though Group Policy settings for program compatibility. When this setting is disabled, the service will continue to run, but no calls will be made to the service. The service cannot be stopped or disabled. Thanks for the info which seems to answer my question about disabling
the Application Experience Lookup Service. Not an option. So the remaining questions are why is it so slow to load for me and how to correct that problem? I am wondering what this service is supposed to do as it loads? Could the fact that I have dual boot set up for both RC1 and Beta 2 be contributing to this service loading so slowly in RC1? pippin wrote: I have the opposite as my computer boots a lot faster with RC1 than it ever did with beta2. For what it is worth, the 5728 build starts up (and shuts down) significantly

There certainly seems to be something flaky with RC1 on my machine. The extra 40 seconds to load compared to Beta 2 can't be necessary. Is there anyone else noticing this or able to explain it? |
