Keep in mind that the Product Key that you receive when you register for the CPP is for Vista Ultimate which is a "Windows Vista Premium" edition. So, given that, you need at least 1GB of RAM, twice as much hard drive space and 124MB more of video RAM. Other than that, you should be good to go. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvist...y/capable.mspx |

I found your post because I am looking for info about running Vista rc1 with
only 256MB Ram. My install said 512mb was required but after I ran Vista for a few days, I needed something crazy to do so I pulled 256mb out. I have a 32mb radion 7000 agp card on a amd 1600+. It runs ok with a lot of swaping but I am looking at shutting down extra services such as indexing and my theams. I love the new features (including the theam) and find xp quite ugly after being in Vista. I would like to find what non-required vista services that I can disable for testing in msconfig. I have 167MB RAM in use in taskman as I write this with theams and indexing disabled. Can someone post a list of services I can disable without breaking media player? I don't want p2p and don't need any extra security features like defender or firewall. I do want to keep updates running and don't plan to visit any "dangerous" sites for phishing or porn. I know how to keep a clean pc but to run this system with 256mb would be nice and should be possible. "Mark D.
