Hi Everyone, I was doing a routine check on things today and I noticed that My RaptorX 150gb hard drive only has a maximum transfer rate of 9mb/sec...according to vistas Reliability and Performance monitor. This is the result when saving a large file in Photoshop ( 1.5gb ). Can this be right? I haven't installed any drivers for the Raptors as I just let Vista install what it needed when I installed it. Any way to boost performance on this drive? Many thanks Chris -- damocles |

With most controllers, to get any sort of performance you'll probably want AHCI mode, with NCQ enabled. However, older SATA controllers simply don't perform as well, and may actually perform worse then EIDE, especially if the EIDE controller is part of the Northbridge and the SATA controller is attached to an already overloaded portion of the PCI bus. |
