I have exactly the same problem and it does not get resolved by any of the
fixes suggested in numerous forums around the web. I have a 32-bit Vista Home Premium on Dell XPS M1330 Here is what I have done so far: - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233 - disabled McAfee and Windows firewalls - disabled IPv6 - installed a MS fix, can't find it right now, suggested earlier here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Troub...ms-55692.shtml - made sure I cleared the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box - run the Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool and it came back fine - made sure all drivers were updated - just did the netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled and got a message: Set global command failed on IPv4 The requested operation requires elevation What else can I do???? This is so annoying, I am traveling again to a developing country this week and expect that I will not be able to connect to a network in the hotel again like it happened last month in India! There the XP computer of my colleague connected just fine and I could not get to the network at all! Or if I did, it was for a minute or two and then dropped again. At home my connection periodically drops - while still showing that I am connected to Local and Internet, if my VPN is on, it works, but no browsing and no email happens. Help!!! |

The admin rights link helped, thank you. I hope it works. I will keep it in
mind for the IPv6, is it safe to remove it completely? I will post back to tell whether the problems persisted when using other neworks. Thanks. |
