Yes, it has always worked. System just warns you when you load it.
Initially MS would not support that configuration if you had a problem. I think the warning is gone after SP1. As I said before, use VirtualBox rather than VirtualPC. I believe VirtualPC is an based on an earlier Innotek virtual product. VirtualBox provides much better virtual USB support than VirtualPC. David-in-NH wrote: bjr, Are you sure that VirtualPC will work with Vista Home Premium. I went to download it, and the Microsoft requirements do not indicate that it will work with VistaHP it says: Virtual PC 2007 runs on: Windows Vistaâ„¢ Business; Windows Vistaâ„¢ Enterprise; Windows Vistaâ„¢ Ultimate; Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition; Windows Server 2003, Standard x64 Edition; Windows XP Professional; Windows XP Professional x64 Edition; or Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. Have you actually done it? "bjr" wrote: VirtualPC will run in Vista HP. Alos consider VirtualBox - XP works fine there also. I just loaded Mandriva Spring 2008 in VirtualBox running in XP. I have run VirtualBox with 32 and 64 bit Vista versions with no problem. David-in-NH wrote: The same thing happened to me in 2004(?) with an $850 Brother AIO when I upgraded a Win 95 PC to Win XP. I had to buy another AIO... HP6110 for $450. I swore I would never buy another Brother product! Last year, I purchased a new Acer (Vista Home Premium) PC: Q6600, 500 Gig HD, 3Gig RAM. Plus I bought a external 500 GIG USB HD for backups. Now I am again suffering the same problem, but worse... my Microsoft Office 2000 won't load either, so I'm now using free software... StarOffice. I may also boycott HP! I was thinking that it might be possible to load my external HD with my full version XP and Office 2000 software. Does anyone know if this will then work as a dual boot PC? (I am obviously not a PC guru.) From reading Kim Komando, I see that I can't make a virtual XP machine using Vista Home Premium, so if I can't make a dual boot PC I guess I could revert to XP. But I am not sure how to guarantee that I have a useful legitimate copy of my pre loaded Vista to use down the road. So, if all else fails, I guess I may have to do what Dave did and get scanning software. But i don't know if it has word processing ability... scan a document then create a document that can be changed/modified? |

If not it may be that my browser does not present the URL so you can just click on it. You can paste the three lines into the address box of your browser or you can go to the HP website and navigate to the support for your printer by typing in Officejet 6110 in the Downoada Software box on this page: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/...isplay=drivers Then click on VISTA and use the link where it says driver. That will take you to the document I was referring to. Hope that helps -- if not explain more what happened. |

I was trying to say that the site you referrenced was the first place I had gone. The driver was downloaded by me immediately upon purchase when I installed my new computer with Vist Office, and everything but the scanner works on my all in one. When I hit scan and select any of the options that appear in the window such as "scan to Microsoft Word," or scan to "HP imaging gallery" my AIO clicks and then fails to engage. It is driving me nuts. I very much appreciate you help. At least I know I was on the right track. huwyngr...first, thanks again for sticking with this. I really appreciate it.
Yes, I have tried all those options and the machine makes noise like it understands and then goes back to sleep. I have decided to ship this thing (the 6110) off to my son who runs a non profit and they can use it with the older operating systems they have. I bought a new HP c728 that is suppossed to be compatible with Vista. I will know later today. At one point I did get a message that the failure was due to a known operating error and to contact HP. I did and they said they no longer support the 6110 but I could talk to a tech for $3 an hour! Anyway, I greatly appreciate your help and if it was going to work I feel it would have with the guidance you provided. Thank you very much. -- jim "huwyngr" wrote: Are you saying that none of the following resulted in a scan? -------------------------------------------------------------------- Scanning Scanning with Windows Photo Gallery Click the Start ( ) icon. Ouch ... You didn't try the HP Diagnostic Utility that is listed as a download on the download page for many devices? Good luck with your new device -- you know where to find us! |
