Default "Windows could not search for new updates"

Getting the above with error code 8024400A - an error I haven't seen since
XP SP1 days. Everything else connects just fine...anyone know what's
wrong?

Same here Peter, as I said in Vista General mine was working fine
yesterday when I tried it out a few times.

I note that Windows Defender cannot update also-try it on your end if
you can-wonder what's going on?

I had the same error the other day although WU checked OK yesterday. The
green line seemed to keep looking and then the error - don't know if it
helped but I then launched IE ran the WU check and it worked even though I
had already update my AV and have an always on connection.

I will be interested to see if Defender & WU works for me today but at least
I know now it wasn't my connection - this didn't happen pre RC1.

That didn't work for me but apparently this is a known bug in 5600 and 5728
and should be dealt with in RC-2.

Default "Windows could not search for new updates"

I ran WU without any error code today found and installed an update for
Defender but it is the same KB repeated each time Defender updates. Installed
success but it was already there. I wonder if there is a bug with Defender/WU
auto checking plus a manual check which I normally do?

Someone elsewhere said that RC2 would sort this out, well apparently it
isn't going to be widely available so the chances are I wont get it...just
great!! :-(
