Good day all, I am struggling against a very strange and incomprehensible problem related to the activation of the WLAN on my notebook. - Hardwa HP Pavilion dv6230br Notebook - 2.0 GHz AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile Technology MK-36 - WLAN: Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN - BIOS: Version: F.3D - O.S.: Vista Home Basic x86 (32bits)I say strange and incomprehensible because apparently there is not nothing of anomalous: - WAN adapter is correctly recognized by the system - WAN adapter can be switched on and off both manually than via software command by HP Network Manager - WAN driver, a Broadcomm 802.11.g, is correctly loaded and operational - Same WAN adapter works perfectly when I boot the notebook with linux OpenSuSE 10.3 (dual-boot HDD)The problem is that I cannot activate the WAN due the fact that "wlansvc" service is down. By trying to activate it manually with: -"services.msc" -always fails and Vista responds with an -"Error N°1068". -It seems something is lacking beside the wlansvc (dependencies ) but I am not sure about this.Any suggestion is very appreciated. Thanks, amdturion ![]() -- amdturion |

Make sure Telephony service is running. Or check this search result.

Hi Robert, Thank you for you intervention. I'll do a check as well to Telephony Service , by the way I have finally solved the problem. Despite to be not a very skilled Windows User, I have found the solution by simply collecting infos and following the old ¨test and see¨ rule, and, as usual, it works, thanks to the WWW's billion of hints and how-toS. I have to be very honest about the fact that one possible cause of the above related problem has been due that a couple of days ago my notebook was been infected by a Trojan (Beagle AAJ) and some others RootKits, which took me to a very hard disinfestation procedure. Basically the solution has been to check the system registry with regedit and change some values of keys that were maintaining some services disabled, despite my attempts to enabling them through services.msc. Among these keys I did changed from _value_4_(disabled)_ to _1_or_2_(enabled)_ the following ¨Start¨ values: Ndisuio DcomLaunch NativeWiFi Filter RpcSs and some others, that are part of dependencies of the WLAN Autoconfig service wlansvc, then I restarted the notebook and attemped to start the disabled services. With my great surprise, now both WLAN Autoconfig than Wired Autoconfig were started without errors messages. After a further reboot, I verified that now I could manage my WLAN adapter and see the nearby available access-points. Actually the last remaining bug is on the HP Wireless Assistant that refuses to sets up the WLAN due the fact that it doesn't recognizes the Wired Adapter which is seen as disabled, despite it be enabled.
