Hi, all
Installing Vista for the first time today to play with it. The default Name+Icon login is something I'd like to get rid of. I've already followed the online help suggestion of going into the User Accounts and forcing CTRL-ALT-DEL to log in. Unfortunately, all this does is make me hit the three-finger salute to get to the same @#$%! name+icon login--which is making it difficult (heck, right now, impossible) for me to set up stuff that I want to do. Does Vista simply not support a CTRL-ALT-DEL login where you have to manually enter your login name and password? Or is it well-hidden? Anyone have any suggestions? (Short form: Don't like or need the name+icon login. Want to ditch it.) Thanks! Davey |

Well, I *think* that to use the ctrl+alt+del you need to be part of a
domain, I will do some looking and try to get back to you -Cullen Dudas "Hamsterlord, Ruler of Rodents" om wrote in message ... Hi, all Installing Vista for the first time today to play with it. Do you have an Administrator account?
All user accounts should show up on the login screen. Are you trying to access the built-in Administrator account? -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User Hamsterlord, Ruler of Rodents wrote: Hi, all Installing Vista for the first time today to play with it. Hello,
snip Does Vista simply not support a CTRL-ALT-DEL login where you have to manually enter your login name and password? This is supported, you will need to change 2 security settings: - Click Start - Click Control Panel - Click System and Maintenance - Click Administrative Tools - Double-Click Local Security Policy - In the left pane, click the triangle next to Local Policy - In the left pane, click Security Options - In the right pane, double-click "Interactive logon: Do not display last user name" - Click Enabled and then OK - In the right pane, double-click "Interactive logon: Do not require CTRL+ALT+DEL" - Click Disabled and then OK -- - JB Windows Vista Support Faq http://www.jimmah.com/vista/ |
