Default Access networked pc in vista

I have had to reimstall Vista on a pc and now I cannot access it over tne
network.
All was ok this morning but since reinstallation I cannot access it, can see
it on the network and can access other pcs from it but cannot access from
other pcs.

I think I may have overlooked something but cant think what.

Help and advice would be gratefully received

TIA

If you re installed the OS, all of the tweaks that you applied before have to be
repeated. So, start from the beginning again.

Thanks Chuck,

All three PCs are running Vista Have network set to Private, File shareing

Can't think of what I have missed.

Everything appears to be the same for all machines/

Alan,

What specific error do you get for "cannot access it over the network."?

Look very carefully for another firewall or security program.

In case you forgot something!

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb727037.aspx

Have a read of the above link re Vista File and Printer Sharing.

Permissions/Share info is there as well.

If using Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro I.S., make sure file and printer
sharing is enabled in THEIR firewall .(LAN allowed)

1st thing to do is make sure that the Workgroup Name of ALL the computers is
the SAME.

In Vista Network and Sharing:

Network Discovery: ON (So it can see the other computers)

Network set to Private (Public is for hotspots, airports, etc)

File Sharing: ON

Public Folder Sharing: ON (Vista’s Public Folder is the same as XP’s Shared
Docs)

Password Protected: OFF (unless you want to set up identical usernames, and
passwords (they can be different) on ALL computers in your Network). If you
have it ON, you will be asked for a username and password when you try to
access a Vista computer from an XP computer, or a Vista Computer.

Also, If you haven’t done so already, run XP’s Network Setup Wizard (in
Start All Programs Accessories Communications), and tell the Wizard to
enable File and Printer Sharing.
Or Start Control Panel Network Connections Set up a Home or Small
Office Network.

Domt understand what you mean by

"Also, If you haven’t done so already, run XP’s Network Setup Wizard (in
Start All Programs Accessories Communications), and tell the Wizard to
enable File and Printer Sharing. "

As all machines are running VISTA not XP.

Radar, I mentioned XP, as you did not say what operating systems the other
comps were using in your Network!

I cover all bases!
