Default Vista and Media Player not playing cds

Hi there,

I have a really, really odd problem.
Media player stops playing CDs exactly 1 minute and 3 seconds in.
It says:

Windows Media Player cannot read the CD. The disc might be dirty or damaged.
Turn on Error correction, and then try again.

I've turned on error correction, it didn't help.

Any ideas?

Nicola

We both need help! I'm having the same issue in both Windows Media player
and the interface that came with my sound card (Creative Sound Blaster XF
Extreme Gamer). Just over a minute into a CD, I receive an error and it
quits playing. Can someone help us with this issue?

Has anyone found a reason or fix for this, It happens in both Nero and
Windows Media Player it is on a new machine I'm assuming its a vista
issue although if both other posters are also using a pioneer drive then
maybe thats the issue?

Help Please !

Mel

because ours was a new build I took it back to the store they examined
it tried to fix it (including trying another pioneer drive) but nothing
worked in the end they put it down to a hardware clash and replaced the
pioneer with an LG and now everything is happily working

I have hp pavillion. Installed vista ultimate 64 and I had same issue
then read that i need to upgrade my nvidia drivers. I upgraded video and
mother board using this link
'_http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us_'
(http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us) (mine is 6150)
and made sure to install media shiled as other forum noted this was
cause of issue.

Working happily now. Good Luck!

PROBLEM SOLVED!

I found out by going to the manufacturer's website, which in my case
was HP, and downloading updated versions of all my drivers and software
it fixed the problem immediately.

The problem puzzled me for three days because the cd played on other
computers but only on mine for 1 minute and 3 seconds.

No worries now just download updated drivers and software from the
manufacturer's website. You might want to go to DEVICE MANAGER to see
your drivers and what versions you have to compare to the manufacturer's
list.

No Problemo.
