I have a Windows Vista Premium Laptop & PC, and neither of them shows up in
eachother's Network area, so I cannot access the shared files or printers. I
can access internet though, but not File and Printer sharing. The network
setup is The PC is connected to a Broadband Modem, which is connected to a
Wireless Router, and the Laptop is connected to the WiFi Network.

Any Suggestions?

Could it be that network discovery is not turned on? Right click network
click properties and check in there. Also check the file sharing. Could
then make a new folder on either machine, share it and see if you can
see it from the other one. (If that makes any sense!!)

Have a read of the above link re Vista File and Printer Sharing.

Permissions/Share info is there as well.

If using Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro I.S., make sure file and printer
sharing is enabled in THEIR firewall .(LAN allowed)

1st thing to do is make sure that the Workgroup Name of ALL the computers is
the SAME.

In Vista Network and Sharing:

Network Discovery: ON (So it can see the other computers)

Network set to Private (Public is for hotspots, airports, etc)

File Sharing: ON

Public Folder Sharing: ON (Vista’s Public Folder is the same as XP’s Shared
Docs)

Password Protected: OFF (unless you want to set up identical usernames, and
passwords (they can be different) on ALL computers in your Network). If you
have it ON, you will be asked for a username and password when you try to
access a Vista computer from an XP computer, or a Vista Computer.

Connect the cable to the modem, the modem to the router, and all PCs --
wired and wireless -- to the router. That will help make all PCs visible
to each other. Then set each PC to be a DHCP client, and enable the
DHCP server capability on the router.

There are several reasons why F&P sharing may not be working for you, but
from your note, I'm guessing that your problem is caused by connecting one
PC to the router and the other to the modem.
