Default Not sure if its a Network issue or VistaMCE....

But hereGoesit...

I have 3 mach.s for my use, and the Home Network has a total of 6 mach.s...
Routed through a 2wires DSL router (6mb dl speed, 10/100 wired, and wireless
connections)...

My 3 mach.s probly have the highest activity level out of all of them, all
are 3gHtz w/2g+mem, 500gb RAIDs...

Mach 1, WinXP 64bit Pro, mach 2 Vista Premium 32bit, mach 3 Win XP Pro
32bit...

Mach 1 is mainly a Game mach..
Mach 2 my MCE entertainment..
Mach 3 added storage..
Mach 4 empty/test station..

All my mach.s a switched with a KVM box...

Within the last month I installed Vista Prem onto Mach 2 (used to be a WinXP
Pro MCE 2002 sp2 32bit..), and I am ready to put it back... Vista has been
nothing but a head ache, sorry if no one here agrees...

My issues:
1) setting up the video Library in MCE generally crashed the Vista MCE at
various stags of "adding a watched" folders content... and now I'm confused,
all the content WAS added, regaurdless of weather it DID or DID NOT crash...
Huh?
2) Generally Vista MCE at this stage is un-usable until this mach is reset...
3) and them again if I just leave it for an hour or so, frustrated I can't
reset it NOW cuz I got recordings going on... It mysteriously is active
again...
4) But the video library is vertually useless cuz the network isn't
working... for Vista MCE that is... I goto any other mach and the network is
fine...
5) After reseting this mach and getting Vista MCE started again, I manuver
to a video in the library and watch it to the end... Pressing the "Back" key
on the remote works until trying to go back to the root Library screen...
Vista MCE has crashed again, and needs to be reset...
6) I though I had it figured out... instead of "Backing" up to the root
library, I simply shut down MCE and restart it...
7) Now that I've use Vista MCE for awhile, I can see it is realy slow (Yes,
I turned the Power to High Performance, I didn't notice any differance)...
When I manuver to Video Library and push the button the little whurly thing
vanishes and its a good 30-40 seconds until all my share(watched) folders
appear... it was nearly instant under MCE 2002, I could manuver around like
lightning.... But Vista MCE is a slugg...
8) its not only MCE, its "my computer" too... I click a folder to do some
file transfers to/from another mach, and it takes forever for the resourses
to show in the pane, a good 30-40 second... a Lifetime to a 3gHtz CPUs ...
30-40 sec is how many cycles???
9) Its a little better since I turned OFF password protection for file/print
sharing, what a waste of development resources... Hey, if I didn't want to
share it, I wouldn't have... Why throw 5 more OK, I want you to do it anyways
boxes at me... its just a waste of time, for crying out loud "I am the
Admin", I am logged in as admin, NOW DO IT... Gezzz...
10)When playing a video *.dvr-ms or *.wmv, the audeo stutters sometimes...
it happens mainly with *.wmv files I have converted using Vista and a utility
called DVRtoWMV... it saves lots of disk space... sometimes I need to convert
the *.dvr-ms file twice, because the 1st try is un-playable... and on the
other hand, sometimes all I need do is restart the mach and the file is NOW
playable...
11) many time I see this error sitting in the system tray..."windows media
player network sharing service has stopped working", event BEX Appl.name:
wmpnetwk.exe, Ver 11.0.6001.7000... and a whole bunch of other tech stuff...
and since many time I am resetting this mach to recover operations, I never
notice anything amiss or is this the whole cause of my Problems?

All in All, IMO Vista MCE is a lost cause and Unless someone has some
answers for me, I am reformatting... and getting rid of this thing...
