Default Cant connect to internet

I have a brand new Inspiron 1521 - plugged the internet cable in and it won't
connect to the internet or the network! Any suggestions? The Inspiron has
Vista, Broadcom Integrated controller and my internet is broadband cable ,
(its a satellite type connection, i don't use a modem and i don't use a
router)
On my other 3 computers, i plug the internet cable in and the internet is up
and running.
I tried pinging and i get a 169.254.... number. But it says local access
only.
Any help, suggestions, links, whatever i'll take it
Thank you!

You don't have the latest update ofCommodo Firewall installed do you.

I had a similar problem when the last update occured. I had to remove
commodo Firewall for the network connection to work.
