Cannot see External Hard Drive Srever

I am connected to my network and can access other computers yet I cannot see
the hard drive I use as my server to read and write files. The hard drive is
a Maxtor Shared Storage Plus which claims to be compatable with Vista. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
