I installed Beta-2 and it worked wonderfully. I recieved RC-1, formatted
Beta-2 off my machine, ASUS A8V Delux, and loaded RC-1. It wouldn't go on line. Windows Messenger did work, would open mail, then I could use Favorites, a few would work that way. Activation---- cannot find network, DNS Error, tried installing all the vista updates via another computer and a CD. The 14 days ran out, formated that one and installed Beta-2 and back to working fine. Now after that book, what can I do to get RC-1 to work? Yeah, I had the same problem with RC1 too. We think it had to do with Router
(Xysel) driver incompatibility. I had a smooth upgrade to Vista from XP Home but then could not get a web screen or Windows Update even though my RSS feeds came thru okay and my Win Messenger Live. I disarmed security firewall etc to no avail. After several days of tinkering reinstalled XP until able to pinpoint precise problem so I can try again. My provider tech support, whose router it is, seemed to be in the dark. But I had a "Starbase driver block" screen each time I rebooted Vista and read somewhere in my manuals that that is a router drive...so surmise, at least in my case, that's what it is. Once my DSL provider gets it figured out, I'll try again. Meantime, I'll keeping watching the MVP comments as to other clues. "deafbus" wrote: I installed Beta-2 and it worked wonderfully. Thanks, I am not alone in this. Where all the MVP's with the fix. They must
not have an answer considering all the problems on the other Posts. I would like th use RC-1 before the time runs out. Al. "Larry Slayback" wrote: Yeah, I had the same problem with RC1 too.
