Cleanup temp directories etc.....that's the first thing you want to do. Also, find out which particular programs (on taskbar EG MSN) are being loaded at boot time and then go into their configuration setup to disable from being loaded when starting windows. |

Go to the Start button (Microsoft Logo, bottom left), click it and select 'Computer' then right click it and choose 'Properties'. If you don't see a 'Computer' icon, look for it on your desktop and do the same thing, right click it. That window should tell you what your processor is and how much memory you have installed etc. Tell us what you have. Regards, Nrth. |

Have you tried running 'msconfig' (minus the quotes) from the Run prompt ? This will tell you what programs and services are set to start up when you boot Windows. Don't go mad unchecking everything. Maybe you'll see something there that you recognise and can temporarily disable to see if it improves your start up time. Try Start button (Microsoft logo, bottom left), then in the box directly above it which says 'Start Search', type 'msconfig' (minus the quotes) and have a look at the window that pops up. Check out the 'Start Up' tab. You'll have to do this in an account with administrative privileges or enter in a password for an administrative account if you have UAC (User Account Control) activated. When you say 'windows life software' I assume you mean Windows Live software. Is this right ? Regards, Nrth. |

Did this machine get banged or dropped? Problem may be your DVD-CD Rom
drive. With the power off pull the cover and pull the power off the DVD-CD drive. Power up see if this helps. Often with hardware failure, it's slow to boot and often with no warning may perk up. If it is not the DVD-CD, power off - pull out the modem. If that does not work, pull out the Ethernet card. Keep trying until you rule out any hardware issues. -- Tech-Talk "Pieter" wrote: my windows vista home premium doesnot start up completely It stops when it has to load the sidebar and the programs that are in the start up file like my virusscanner After a few minutes it automatically continues the start up and loads all programs which are in the startupfolder I just bought this vista and it worked fine I dont know what went wrong I disabled all start up folders and services but I cannot locate the problem Please help me as it costs me so much time while i cannot solve the issue pieter |
