Default Windows Vista Reboot

When I try to restart my computer after upgrading my count down meter stops
responding at 26 seconds. I will then power off and wait for 50 seconds and
restart my computer. Vista Home Premium is my operating system.

This started to happen when I installed an external Hard Drive as a back up
Disk onto my computer in order to have Windows do a auto back up every week.
I do not get any error messages during reboot just freezes up count down.

If I disconnect my external Hard Drive everything works just fine.

Please let me know if you can tell me if there is a fix for this issue.

Thank You.

USB external? Have you checked the manufacturer of your hard drive's
web site?

Yes it is USB External . I've sent the manufacture Western Digital's
support a E-mail and waiting for a reply. I can't figure out why Windows
Vista just freezes on reboot . If I turn the computer off and start it back
up everything works fine. It's just If I reboot it Windows Vista freezes at
countdown. Tried to unplug the USB External hard drive and then rebooted
Windows Vista and it worked just fine ? I'm thinking Vista sees this
External device and does not know how to process so it just freezes during
count down to open Windows Vista operating system .

Any help is appreciated
Thank You

If you have SP1 installed, your problem could be related to the USB
issues arising from installing it. Someone mentioned in one of the
newsgroups I read that MS is offering free support relating to the
USB/Sp1 bug so it might be an idea to touch base with them.

Great Thank you. I will check any issues with Service Pack 1 since I already
updated all Vista updates. Looked at the Windows crash log and it just
states that it maybe a driver issue. I will go see if there is a fix at
Microsoft. since all My Windows Updates are current and I have my computer
set to automatically download and ask to install .

Thank You for the tip.

Regards,
