I have had the problem for a while now of Windows Explorer stopping working
cronicly. But I could handle that. This morning when I logged on to my computer and proceeded to unpack a .rar file I had downloaded the night before, when Windows Explorer crashed. I did its normal restart, but did not move on with normal functioning. Instead, windows explorer stopped working again and again. As soon as windows explorer would restart, it would stop working. So I untilized the task manager to shut down my computer. This only made things worse. Now when I boot up and log into my admin account the UI is constantly refreshing itself as though the events above were occuring, but it was not notifying me or microsoft about the occurances. I have logged on to my secondary account which appears to be unaffected. It is not, however, an admin account and I am unable to access any of the files of my other account. I tried safe mode. Safe mode on my admin account sufferes the same affects. Attempting to run system restore while in that account in safe mode I was told something along the lines of "A device is not functioning properly, system restore will close now". I have attempted to run System Restore, and have gotten 2 different messages. The first, (while in safe mode on tbut I am told "There was an unexpected error. Class not regestered (0x80040154). Please close system restore and try again." I do not know what to do at this point. I have work that I need to recover from that account. I can not create a new admin account to try to get to it. I am going to try to find the windows DVD that came with my computer so I can system restore from it. However, My hopes at this point are low. |
