I do not thing that SP1 is the problem as I have 40GB free space on the

System restore creates check point at its own pre-set times. Be sure Task Scheduler is running, this can cause System Restore to fail. Check Start_All Programs_Accessories_System Tools_Task Scheduler. Expand the branch Microsoft/Windows/System Restore then click the Triggers tab.
