Which antivirus are you using? Some of them are not compatible with
Windows Mail. Email scanning should be disabled in the antivirus.

No antivirus installed at all? Was either Norton or McAfee installed

If Windows Mail gives you an error message, please post it.

Default Error Message when trying to send/recieve

What type of Yahoo mail account do you have?
a) free, US or Canada based
b) free, based in another country (which one?)
c) sponsored through your ISP
d) paid (Yahoo's "Mail Plus")

US-based free Yahoo accounts have webmail access only, no POP
access. Windows Mail handles POP mail but not Yahoo webmail.
Yahoo's solution is to pay them for premium "Mail Plus" service, see:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mai...plus/overview/
and use the special settings for that service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mai...op/pop-14.html

If you need more help with this, just ask.
