On my "XP pc" I have used this utility quite often; but when I tried to run
this on my "Vista pc" the black box (with the DOS prompt) appears for a
moment then disappears) I read some post(s) regarding "elavated priviledges"
and that instruct user to "right-click Command and choose to 'Run as
Administrator'." In this regard, I haven't been able to get to the option to
"Run as Admin." (Think I need more incremental, detailed steps...sorry.)
Please HELP!

Hello Alexis,
Plerase follow these steps :- ** Make sure you are logged on to
administrator account**
1. click Start button ( the circular logo at the bottom left)
2. at the search column (bottom left), type " cmd " (without the quotes)
3. look to the top, Right click on cmd
4. click Run As Administrator, you will be prompted, just click Continue
5. a black/white (DOS) screen will appear. At the top, it should say "
Administrator:C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe
6. at the prompt, type chkdsk c: /f /r then press Enter key
7. you will be asked if you want to do it "next time the system restarts",
type y for yes, n for no
8. if you type y, you will have to either reboot(restart) to start the
chkdsk, or wait till next time you reboot.
That's it. Let me know if this work.
