At least once a day my I notice all my network applications like Skype, GTalk
etc are trying to login again and I can't reach the internet with IE. When I look at Network Sharing Center instead of the usual Home (private) network I now have that and another Unknown Network, or only the Unknown Network shown. If I reboot I get just the Home network showing and everything works again. Sometimes I can disable the local area network adapter and re-enable it and the connection stays up for a while. Other times trying to disable lan adapter gives perpetual hourglass. Can anyone shed some light on this? I was hoping not to have to reboot so often. Posting the result of ipconfig /all here may help. Or check this post.

I have this problem with four of the dells running Vista Business and all we ( the dell techs and I) came up with was to go into power management and turn off sleep. Toni |

Yes, it happens when Vista comes out of sleep mode. As far as I can make out
a second network is created "Unknonw Network" which has IP 0.0.0.0 Also the default gateway appears to have been changed to 0.0.0.0. I sometimes can disable and enable the network adapter and it reconnects, other times I have to reboot. I'm going to try using static IP instead of DCHP and see fit that cures it. Not a good fix on a LAN but I'm working out of a home office.
