Quote the exact text of the error message so we can help you. Give at least
the make/model of your laptop and its approximate age. Go to Device Manager
(put "Device Manager" into Vista's Help & Support) and look at what is
there for sound hardware. Is there a yellow exclamation mark against the
sound hardware?
