Default Vista File backup failing with 0x80004005

This one has Microsoft scratching various portions of thier anatomy. Vista
file backup to an external drive has been working on my laptop for over a
year. Flawlessly. Suddenly I have not been able to do a backup for almost a
month. Complete PC Backup still works, but file back up fails with
0x80004005. That status means 'Unspecified error". I've tried it to the
external HDD, formatted that external drive and tried it again, and tried it
to two different network drives on 2 different IP addresses, but no joy.

The only thing I can relate this too is that about the same time our IT
department remapped some network drives and we now run a script at login and
the laptop is now in a domain.I strongly suspect that is the cause and would
notify our IT department ... but Vista is not a "blessed" OS by IT yet and
hence I tend to get "Sorry charlie" when I report problems.

Anyone encountered this issue?
