I recently built a new computer and I would like to move my current install of Vista to the new system without reinstalling it. My only problem is that both setups will be using a raid 0 array for the installation and I don't know if I will be able to boot off the old disks with the new hardware. My old PC was a nForce 4 based AMD rig and my new one is a P35 based Intel rig. Is there a way that I can install the drivers for the new raid array prior to booting with it? -- gearhead364 |

What you wish to do is unsafe at best and likely to fail at worst. The way
to move Vista from one computer to another is to install it clean and let it build and install the drivers it needs on the new hardware. -- Richard G. Harper [MVP Shell/User] * NEW! Basically any single HD large enough can hold the Backed Up Data from a RAID
0 Array.................. And you are only Talking DATA...saved work files...pics...music...etc....Vista settings.. Programs would need to be reinstalled anyways. peter -- DISCLAIMER: If you find a posting or message from me offensive, inappropriate, or disruptive, please ignore it. Okay, then does anyone know of software raid so that I can load two raid drives within my OS, copy the data and then do a fresh install? -- gearhead364 |

You can not do it; simple as that.

You copy your data to other media, check the copied data, clean install
Vista, reconnect your data. The only safe option "gearhead364" wrote in message ... Okay, then does anyone know of software raid so that I can load two raid drives within my OS, copy the data and then do a fresh install? -- gearhead364 |
