Default Slow Wifi Transfer But / Faster Wifi Internet

Greetings,

I have a Wifi Router/Modem to connect to the internet, and to connect my
Vista Laptop (Wifi g all the time) to my WinXp Desktop (Ethernet to
modem/router).

Today I downloaded in my Vista Laptop a 650Mb file in 6:XX Min, then I
decided to send a copy to my WinXp Desktop.

The problem is that making a copy from my Vista Laptop, to my WinXp Desktop
took me 9:XX Min. How can I download faster from the internet, that copying a
file on my home network? I don't know, and thats why I'm here.

I've tested downloading the file from my WinXp Desktop, and it was around
the same time (6:XX).

O didn't have any activity on the Home Network, no other background process
using the wifi/ethernet on each computer (no more than the normal ones).

I've search for solutions, I've tried the hacks, disabling this and that(
QoS, the 20% limit thing, compression blá blá, Only God knows ) But I still
can't manage to understand the reason for this to be so slow.

Thanks in advanced, and I hope you can help me

Hi I had a similar problem with my Vista x64 which I traced to Norman Virus
Control purely by trial and error. I uninstalled NVC after saving the
installation key, restarted and found I was back to full speed, reinstalled
NVC the problem returned, uninstalled NVC installed AVG 8 and never looked
back.

Hi,

After trying all sorts of workarounds, I finally suspected my router
(which is about 4 years old). A firmware update fixed the problem.
