Default Extra garbage on Printer Test Page

I have installed a Brother HL-5150D printer through a Netgear FWG114P
Firewall/Print Server. My computer is running Vista Home Premium 64 bit.

When I Print Test Page I get all that I would expect on a test page PLUS 4
lines of some garbage ( W6S9CS/EC8/ etc).

This is just below where it says Printer Test Page.

In other printing I sometimes have to make several attempts to get the
printer to start and often get what was previously asked for printing first.
Eventually you get good printing.

What is going on and how do I fix it?

A guess is that the Netgear unit is adding the garbage that can be in unused
buffer space. I have no idea if this is a hardware or software buffer, or if
the problem is in Netgear's firmware (as I suspect) (I've had this sort of
thing occur in the past with poorly written software for lan based printer
buffers.
