"Zac" wrote in message ... I have a P5N-E SLI as well. Installed a fresh copy of Vista Home Premium. All was well until this update and a few other Nvidia SATA updates popped up in WU. After update installation and a reboot I get a blue screen and all F8 booting attempts have failed. Windows refuses to restore to previous point since there is no point to restore to. I'm not sure that driver updates get undone that way anyway. Looks like I'll be reinstalling only this time I'll be avoiding the Nvidia SATA and network updates. Not too sure which one killed my system but I'm not chancing another blue screen. WU is not the best newsgroup to try to resolve this in but FWIW I think you should be able to boot some kind of command console, fix the problem and then recover your OS. A related alternative would be booting with options which say that you only want to use VGA mode. You might even already have that option available in your boot list. Etc. I also did a restore point to return to boot. "Knightospr" wrote: I to found a problem with installing update KB943899, Vista just Stalls on "configuring update". The round circle spins, stop a little, spins then stop....etc. I also notice that the keyboard locks in when the "round circle"(mouse pointer) stops moving. Seems there some hardware conflict with this update. I have an Asus P5N-E Sli motherboard, Core 2 duo E6600, 8800gts 320mb gpu, Creative Xfi 64mb. Had to do system restore after that patch. |
