Default Slow network connection

I have vista installed and it works good for surfing but any time I do a
download it fails miserably. I believe it is a NIC problem. I have changed
my nic and switch to be set at 10 half and turned off priority queuing and
it gets a little better but still not as good as other machines on the
network. but at least it sometimes finishes the downloads.

Nforce from Nvidia is the network driver it was the version that came with
Vista (automatically loaded)

Need help

I'd bet on a driver issue. Check for updated drivers or wait for non-beta
drivers.
