Does anyone know if HP has yet produced a driver for the 1012 LaserJet for* Vista? There isn't one on their website for the LJ1012 but have you tried installing the XP printer software using compatibility mode and Run as Administrator? You must follow the usual USB procedure of installing the software before you connect the USB cable to the PC. If you have something already installed, remove HP software using Control Panel / Remove Programs and delete any printer icon in Control Panel / Printers and reboot, all with the printer disconnected. |

Try the HP LJ 4 driver on the Vista DVD. No guarantee- a bit of a shot in
the twilight. Tom MSMVP 1998-2007 "PVR" wrote in message ... Does anyone know if HP has yet produced a driver for the 1012 LaserJet for Vista? Many thanks, Peter. |

I have the even older Laserjet 1010 and not sure is this is correct by I got my printer to work so thought I'd pass it along.... Hook up your printer and let Windows tell you it know a printer is on the generic IEEE port but can't find it. Grab the PCL 6 universal HP driver. (I didn't try the PCL5 driver!) http://tinyurl.com/5nlyvy Get that installed. Goto the control panel and double click the printer icon. Right click on the right side of the screen and choose the add a printer. Select the Dot4_001 Generic IEEE port and then choose the HP Laserjet Family Driver PCL5. This will install the printer - print a test page and you're done. As I say, I used this procedure to get my laserjet 1010 printing so hope it works for you. -- Justpassing ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Justpassing's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?u=53227 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=986258 http://forums.techarena.in |

Good post. I have a Gateway with Vista and I connected the HP 1012 to find that HP and Windows dropped the ball on providing a driver for it to work. Your suggested solution allowed me to print a test page. -- MinorityMan77 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MinorityMan77's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/minorityman77.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-print-fax/986258.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
