Default Burning DVD'S

hi
Don't know whether i am in the right group but i am after some help every
time i try burning a DVD, i have tryed nero and windows DVD maker but when it
get part way through the computer just close's down for no reason, and when i
restart my computer all it say's is the computer was not closed down
properly, and when it gets to the desk top it does not say anything about an
error.
hope someone can help with this problem
