Default Can't Connect to Network Printer

I'm trying to connect my HP Photosmart printer to my Windows Vista
laptop through my home network. When I open the network folder, I can
see the printer, but the add a printer wizard can't find it on the
network. This worked before - I've printed from this laptop to the
same printer before, but I deleted the connection on my computer when
I went back to college. Are there any settings that I should be
checking?

You may want to setup it as local printer first and then remap it as network
printer. This search result may help.

Did you try adding the printer using Administrator privs? Just go to the
Control Panel Printers Run As Administrator Add Printer. This
process gave me access to the network printer. Unfortunately, MS Word
will not work at all if the network printer is setup as the default and
not added by the administrator.
