Default Can Vista Home Premium capture "still shots" from a family video C

Two Questions:

1. Can Vista Home Premium Edition capture "still shots" from family videos
saved on CD's?

2. Can Vista Home Premium Edition "edit" family videos saved on CD's and
create
a new family video?

Please respond promptly.
Thank You,

If the format of your "Family Videos" is compatible
with Windows Movie Maker...you can use it to do
your captures and your editing.

For the screen caps...In Movie Maker...Try
the following:

Go to...Tools / Take Picture from Preview...

Default Can Vista Home Premium capture "still shots" from a family vid

Thank You, John, for responding to my question.
I am glad to learn that Vista Home Premium can capture "stills" from family
video.
We are seeking to capture some "stills" from some old family videos
to reconstruct some of our family's pictorial history.

I am the one who is writing the family history.

Unfortunately, I have never worked with pictures or videos.
So I will need to read the information provided by your "links."

And, then I will need to decide whether "Capturing still photos from Videos"
is beyond my knowledge and skill with a computer.

John, thank you for being knowledgeable of the subject and providing the
links.

If you know of additional, related "how to's" that would help a novice,
I will appreciate your sending the info to me.

Thank You for your help,
